UCL Institute for Global Health

Jenevieve Mannell is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Global Health. For the past decade, her work has focused on building context-relevant understandings of the gender inequalities that underpin global health issues, including violence against women, poor mental health and HIV/AIDS. She is interested in the inherent capacity of communities and broader social networks to advocate for gender equality in relation to health, and works with participatory, mixed methods, and theoretically-informed approaches to research. In 2019, she was awarded a Future Leaders Fellowship for the EVE Project, which aims to improve the evidence around preventing violence in settings where it is widely accepted as normal. Over the past 10 years she has worked in many countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Peru, India, South Africa, and Samoa.
